Prior to the Court entering a Judgment/Order finalizing the divorce/separation, most jurisdictions require both parents to complete and provide the Court with proof of attendance at parenting classes. I highly recommend that both parents fulfill the parenting class requirement as early on in the divorce process as possible. These classes are for the purpose of assisting parents to understand the impacts of divorce/separation on their children, help identify areas of concern, and provide a forum to explore ideas to help children during this transition in the family. The earlier in the divorce/separation process that this information is shared with parents, the better prepared parents will be to address their children’s needs.
